Measurable, verifiable, permanent emissions reduction

Powering carbon removal at the source

Not carbon capture, carbon removal.

Think of a catalytic converter on an automobile. The Carbon Zapper filters out C02 converting it to carbon monoxide (C0).

The invention is a solution of liquid metal and molten salt through which CO2 is bubbled to conduct its conversion. The units would be attached to the industrial chimney, converting the pollutants before escaping to the atmosphere.

The Zapper-a high-tech, long term removal solution.

Forcompanies with hard to abate emissions.

The ability to abate CO2 emissions from major point sources where direct electrification remains difficult, such as production of cement, petrochemicals, and fertilizers, would engender deep decarbonization. This allows the use of hydrocarbons as process inputs. The Zapper is added to the chimney outflow, diverting it for treatment resulting in conversion of C02 gas before escaping to the atmosphere.

Available technology

Proven at the lab bench, with international interest, development partners, and clear IP. Carbon Zapper enables both CO2 removal and monetization of the conversion products.

Measurable, verifiable and permanent emission reductions

High value carbon credits.

Models published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) call for removing up to 20 Gt of carbon dioxide per year from the atmosphere. Sadoway has invented a permanent solution to capture CO2 and convert it into carbon monoxide. The carbon monoxide is then available for return to the market. The Zapper will remove CO2for the hard-to-abate sectors without requiring sequestration. There’s growing public and institutional pressure on companies to make net-zero commitments for positive social impact. The Carbon Zapper is now undergoing third-party verification to qualify for high-value carbon credits. The process falls within three clean-technology sectoral scopes:
• Fugitive emissions from fuels (solid, liquid, gas)
• Fugitive emissionsfrom industrial gases (halocarbons and sulfur hexafluoride)
• Other engineered removals

Developed at Sadoway Labs

The Carbon Zapper was developed by Donald Sadoway at Sadoway Labs, a group dedicated to advancing the ideas of Donald Sadoway, alongside his colleague Xueqi Pang. With clear IP, the technology is available for licensing.
